Jayce’s Story
The story that started at 15 months
Birmingham
Before Jayce could form full sentences, he was gripping a pencil like an adult and spending hours with picture books. His family noticed something exceptional — not just interest in books, but an obsession.
The neighbourhood author
Jayce began writing full scripts of his family’s days out — and stuck them on walls, doors, and telephone poles. He wanted the whole neighbourhood to read what he wrote.
Mensa assessment
Assessed by Lyn Kendall, British Mensa’s Gifted Child Consultant. Result: IQ 150, placing Jayce in the top 0.1% for his age group. One of the youngest members in British Mensa’s history.
World Book Day — history made
On World Book Day 2023, at age 4, Jayce published two books simultaneously — making him the world’s youngest author to publish a book series simultaneously. The International Book of Records officially recognised the achievement.
House of Lords
Jayce received the British Citizen Youth Award (BCyA) — the young person’s equivalent of an MBE — at the House of Lords. He was the youngest recipient among 20 outstanding young people selected nationally.
House of Commons
Named Promising Laureate of the Year at the BYITC Inspire Awards — one of 28 outstanding young people recognised at the Houses of Parliament.
TruLittle Hero Awards
Dual recognition: Academic and Scribe categories.
National Spelling Bee
2nd place, Kids Category, National Spelling Bee 2025.
University of Oxford
Youngest finalist at the World Literacy Summit — an international gathering of literacy leaders held at the University of Oxford.
BBC Blue Peter Badge
Awarded a Blue Peter Badge for outstanding achievement in children’s literacy and storytelling.
BBC Blue Peter Gold Badge
The highest Blue Peter honour — awarded to Jayce for his outstanding contribution to early literacy, diversity and inclusion. Past Gold Badge recipients include HM Queen Elizabeth II, JK Rowling, Sir David Attenborough, and Marcus Rashford. Jayce is one of the youngest ever recipients.
Our Stories, Our World
Jayce led the publication of the UK’s first nationwide child-led anthology — 20 young authors, ages 6–10, launched at the Library of Birmingham before 150+ children and families. 1,000 copies sold — Guinness World Record application submitted.
And the story is only just beginning
10,000+ children reached. 40+ school and library visits. 2,000+ books read. An independent press. A national writing competition. A registered CIC. And the story is only just beginning.
